Soba Restaurant

A soba restaurant based on a scene from the show Kimestu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)!
I challenged myself with this project to learn and apply new techniques. One of these was a trim sheet I made in ZBrush, which was used for the wooden assets. Another was to use more modular assets, such as the wall pieces. However, the main aspects I wanted to implement were the golden sunset lighting and the 'God rays' which were a prominent feature in the reference material. I also used the Unreal sequencer for the first time to record the short clip.
During this project, I found out about GPU rendering which saved me hours of building lighting and allowed me to focus more of my time on actually creating and iterating the scene.
All assets were modelled in Blender, with the trim sheets further sculpted in ZBrush. These were textured with Substance Painter and Substance Designer. The environment was rendered in Unreal Engine 4.
